A Picture is Worth 1000 Words

So as promised in the last post, we’re back with pictures from our first EVER photoshoot! *cue cheers and applause* Thanks, you’re far too kind!

Here are our girls, 2/4 of Team Project InVogue (Check them out projectinvogue.blogspot.com) helping set up before all the action really began. It’s tedious job, but someone’s gotta do it.

Part of our jewelry stash. Never truly realized how vital and/or detrimental accessories can be. Sometimes they took our looks to the next level, while other times they would cause a certain aesthetic that we weren’t too keen on.  Tip: When all else fails, do as the great CoCo says, before you leave the house take off one accessory.

What’s a photo shoot without make-up and other cosmetic goodies??? yummm!

This look was by far one of my favorite looks of the day.  We ended up opting out of the statement bib necklace and going for a layered chain effect instead, but you get the picture.  This is our (very loose) interpretation of modern day pin-up-esque, Rosie the Riveter meets the runway, ha!  Je l’adore!

Another one of my fave looks. This one was a bit more youthful and fun.  I terribly enjoyed playing with porportions in this outfit.  You can’t see it but the sweater is layered over a crop top and a pair of blue shorts, which was then layered over a pair of striped tights. Then we added a pair of biker-esque boots that upped the edge factor of the fit. Sounds crazy. Looks great. ; )

That dude is Mahhhh-cus aka Marcus,  he’s the photographer. He was super cool, and super patient. Not to mention he’s a GENIUS behind the lens. But, anyways, enough about him and more about that camel coat over there. Does it not make you salivate? *Sigh* Not to mention camel was all over the runways for Fall. As Rachel Zoe would say “I die.”

[In case you missed the first picture of the camel coat, or felt the need to relish in its beauty once more ; ) ]

This look was more a vintage Ralph Lauren-esque, riding type look. It oozes sophistication and a sort of understated, casual glamour.

Bow. Enough said.

(oh, and the hardworking woman you see behind the model is Isi, 1/2 of the founding team. She’s a part-time CEO and full-time weirdo, hehe.)

This look was TOO much fun to style.  All the bright colors. The bandana. The glasses. The leather skirt. *Gasp* It was too much.

(And in the blue we have Tina, moi, the other [and better, if I do say so myself, ha!] half of team Modern Art.)

The “i dont give a flip” attitude that this outfit gave off made me want to be bad and steal a car, or a cookie, or something. lol

Allow me to take a second and tell you that:  THIS. DRESS. IS. SEQUINED. PERFECTION.

That is all.

I think the hardest part of the shoot and the styling was understanding that these pictures will be the very first thing the world sees when they see Modern Art.  It’s our chance to tell the world what MA is all about.  It’s our greeting, like “Hi, World, my name is Modern Art and I….” so it was important to us to figure out what we wanted to say.  And I think we’re off to a good start.  The clothes are a testament to our versatility.  Modern Art has something for EVERYONE.  It’s a place where anyone can come and shop whether you’re looking for a cocktail dress or a t-shirt to wear to class.  The clothes say we’re sophisticated and fashion-forward, but we know how to have fun and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.  We love color but we also love camel.  We love gorgeous couture-like sequined dresses, but we can also get down in a crop top and leather skirt with biker boots.  You don’t have to be a particular type of person to shop at MA, you just have to love clothes (vintage, of course) && be willing to take risks.  This photo shoot was our message to the world: We’re Here. We’re Vintage. & We’re BADDDD (but in a good way, ha!)

Signed,

MA
